Background : 4A122 reacts with CD11a, a 180 kDa molec µLe. CD11a is the a chain of the leukocyte function associated antigen-1 (LFA-1a), and is expressed on all leukocytes including T and B cells, monocytes, and gran µLocytes, but is absent on non-hematopoietic tissue and human platelets. CD11/CD18 (LFA-1), a member of the integrin subfamily, is a leukocyte adhesion receptor that is essential for cell-to-cell contact, such as lymphocyte adhesion, NK and T-cell cytolysis, and T-cell proliferation. CD11/CD18 is also involved in the interaction of leucocytes with endothelium.*CD11a antibody has been used to reduces graft failure for bone marrow grafts in immunodeficient children. Background : Integrin alpha-7/beta-1 is the primary laminin receptor on skeletal myoblasts and ad µLt myofibers. During myogenic differentiation, it may induce changes in the shape and mobility of myoblasts, and facilitate their localization at laminin-rich sites of secondary fiber formation. It is involved in the maintenance of the myofibers cytoarchitecture as well as for their anchorage, viability and functional integrity. Isoform Alpha-7X2B and isoform Alpha-7X1B promote myoblast migration on laminin 1 and laminin 2/4, but isoform Alpha-7X1B is less active on laminin 1 (In vitro). Background : Integrins alpha-4/beta-1 (VLA-4) and alpha-4/beta-7 are receptors for fibronectin. They recognize one or more domains within the alternatively spliced CS-1 and CS-5 regions of fibronectin. They are also receptors for VCAM1.
