Test principle : This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PXN in samples. An antibody specific for PXN has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPXN present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conj µgated antibody specific for PXN is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conj µgated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PXN bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Product Overview : Parathyroid hormone is secreted by the parathyroid glands as a polypeptide containing 84 amino acids. It acts to increase the concentration of calcium (Ca2+) in the blood, whereas calcitonin (a hormone produced by the parafollic µLar cells (C cells) of the thyroid gland) acts to decrease calcium concentration. PTH acts to increase the concentration of calcium in the blood by acting upon parathyroid hormone receptor in three parts of the body : PTH half-life is approximately 4 minutes. Product Overview : Pancreatic polypeptide (PP) is a 36-amino-acid secretory peptide that is predominantly produced by the pancreas. The exact physiologic role of PP in healthy individuals has not been f µLly defined. This peptide affects the secretion of pancreatic enzymes, water, and electrolytes. Its effect is biphasic in that PP initially enhances secretion and then inhibits secretion. PP increases gastric emptying and gut motility. It also relaxes the pyloric and ileocecocolic sphincters, the colon, and gallbladder. PP levels increase after ngestion of food and remain elevated from 4-8 hours. Prolonged fasting, diabetes, and exercise can also increase PP levels. Serum PP levels can be elevated in as many as 50% of patients with carcinoid syndrome. Product Overview : PRRX2 is a member of the paired family of homeobox proteins. Expression is localized to proliferating fetal fibroblasts and the developing dermal layer, with downreg µLated expression in ad µLt skin. Increases in expression of this gene during fetal but not ad µLt wound healing s µggest a possible role in mechanisms that control mammalian dermal regeneration and prevent formation of scar response to wounding. The composite 813-nucleotide cDNA encodes a putative 164-amino acid protein with 74% overall identity to mouse Prx2, showing high conservation in the homeodomain and extreme 3-prime region. PRX2 is expressed as a single 1.3-kb transcript.
